Dollar to Euro Conversion – Sample Calculation
I know most people think I'm crazy for doing the calculation
without the use of a website, but honestly, the conversion can be completed simply, using
proportions.
Proportions in the set of two fractions that are connected to each
other by equal sign will give you the exact euro to dollar conversion rate if you know the exchange rate
of the two currencies on the given date.
For example, if one dollar is equal to 0.90 euros on a particular
day and you want to know how many euros you will get for 100 dollars, simply put 1 dollar as the numerator and 0.90
as the denominator of the first fraction and set the numerator of the second fraction to the amount of currency you
want to calculate which in our case is 100 dollars.
1 dollar / 0.90 euros = 100 dollars / X
euros
It leaves us with the missing factor or the denominator of second
fraction which will give the exact number of euros you will be getting for 100 dollars.
The video above discusses converting currencies utilizing
Google.
Now you can easily calculate the dollar to euro
conversion for 100 dollars by just multiplying the denominator of first fraction with the numerator of the
second fraction, in our case it will be 0.90 euros multiplied by 100 dollars and result will be 90
euros.
You can also use this formula to calculate conversions for currencies other than just euro vs dollar, such as dollars to pounds, as well as any other
currency.
